Northern Norway Art Museum, situated in the oldest street of Tromsø, is the youngest art museum in Norway, established in 1985. The mission of the Museum is to stimulate appreciation of and advance knowledge of visual and applied art. It focuses on art connected to the region of Northern Norway, in addition to main trends in Norwegian visual and applied art from the early 19th century until today. Selected works from the Northern Norway Art Museum’s permanent collection are always on display, while the museum also features temporary exhibitions of historic and contemporary art.
